For centuries, white tea was the utmost luxury, reserved only for the Emperor of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka, formerly called "Ceylon", is historically reputed for its rich tea plantations. Tea is also among the top export commodities from Sri Lanka. With a view of harnessing this lucrative industry, we commenced our newest venture "MISA Tea Plantations (Pvt) Ltd." by acquiring a tea estate in Kitulgala in February 2011. MISA Tea is processed at our own fully automated factory which has a production capacity of approx. 1.2 Million Kilograms per annum. Though modern, our factory encompasses orthodox methods of tea production. Our teas are auctioned through tea brokers at the "Colombo Tea Auctions" which happens to be the largest tea auction in the world.
Tea that is made from new buds and very young, very gently dried tea leaves. Because of the careful and light processing, the leaves retain all their contents of antioxidants. As the name suggests, white tea is a clear brew with a slight golden tinge, not unlike white wine. It has a mild, delicious taste.
